Spring Cleaning: Kid's Edition (Day 1)

I don't know well-nigh yous, but I tin pretty much stay on top of my business firm when it is justmystuff I take to worry about. My hubby does a great job of hanging upward his clothes and helping out with things here and in that location, so I tin't mutter about his stuff either. But my kids…oh my kids…dealing with their "stuff" day in and day out is plenty to give me anxiety.

Today's Consignment:  Make clean out your children's closets and drawers. Pack away clothing that is besides pocket-sized or out of season. Become rid of clothing you no longer want.

I know, I know…it's a lot! If you accept multiple children, you may want to practise one child's cupboard/drawers per 24-hour interval. Since this is a job I couldn't practise while the boys napped/had quiet time, they watched way more than their daily quota of telly. It's okay…it'southward merely ane day. :)

Many wonderful parents involve their children when they want to give things away, giving them an opportunity to exhibit generosity. I don't…even though I accept attempted information technology in the by. The reason beingness that my kids won't play with a particular item for months (sometimes evenyears) only equally soon as I say "Let's requite this away" they get about as possessive every bit Gollum in Lord of the Rings. I'm chalking it upwards to a developmental stage and not worrying nearly their lack of generosity quite still. Needless to say, it is WAY EASIER (and way less drama) if I happily find another abode for the items while the children are blissfully unaware of my shenanigans. Little Brother'due south dresser…no earlier picture, but there was all sorts of stuff on the top of information technology. And yes, those are newborn pictures on the wall. The child is almost three 1/2 years old…think it's time for some new pictures?!?! Maybe next calendar week… ;)

The nicely-made bed…I wonder how long it will stay that mode!

Since we hand downward Big Brother'due south clothes to Little Brother, I store them in these Flexible Tote Bags. They are easy to store and keep the wearing apparel protected!

For the wearing apparel that I want to get rid of, I record the items on a spreadsheet with the following data:  Date, Description, Estimated Retail Value, and where the item was donated to. We then accept this off our taxes at the end of the year. I don't do garage sales. I could give you a million reasons why, but it mainly boils down to the fact that this works all-time for the states.

The closets and dressers are done! Now onto the adjacent job tomorrow…stay tuned! :)
