When Missing Loved Ones Becomes a Lifestyle
I grew upwardly missing people. My father was a visitor man — a corporate nomad — then when it came time to motion over again, nosotros packed upward and went where the career opportunities led him.
The simply place he ever declined to move was Utah. That's because no one in their right mind agrees to movement to Utah. (Hey, no criminal offense.)
Growing upwards, I missed friends, neighbors, and classmates across half-dozen states. Relationships were temporary. Living hundreds of miles from relatives, we visited them one time or twice a yr. For seven years, my dad worked second shift so he could climb that corporate ladder; oftentimes I missed him, besides.
When I attended college, naturally it was out-of-state. And so, I landed a corporate job much like his and continued the nomadic lifestyle of corporate relocations and missing people.
One time I became a parent, nonetheless, I sought to ensure that my own daughter didn't abound up missing people she loved. I wanted to requite her the gift of existence "from" somewhere. I wanted to give her the souvenir of not continually feeling loss or separation from all that was familiar.
Nosotros now live a stone'due south throw from my parents and other family unit. Corporate nomads eventually notice their oasis, and information technology'south rarely at the top of the organizational ladder.
Where is your oasis?

I met my soulmate while living in Europe as a teenager. We'd spend ours days dreaming about a future together. But, her family abruptly left the country and disappeared. The day I watched her board the airplane crying is amongst the worst days of my life.
We knew we'd probably never see each other again and promised to e'er think, and find each other in the side by side life.
In the years since, I've searched, just never found any trace of her.
And, while my life went on, I've never forgotten her.

poetryman6969 - My husband's mother used a command for "go yourself together" -- it was "tighten upwardly." She was a woman who with a high school instruction supported three young kids later her husband had a massive stroke at age 33 (and lived but needed to larn how to walk, talk and feed himself). All her life, I am certain that she missed the human being he used to be and the life she used to have. But you didn't hear her griping. People could borrow a good role model. Thanks for reading. Some nice writing and some practiced tunes.
The juxtaposition of songs about real, raw actual emotion to some of the made upwards nonsense concerning "micro-aggressions" on higher campuses today is startling. Nosotros used to use things similar music to cope with anxiety and depression. Then we moved to drugging virtually a whole social club and now nosotros are start to see a generation that act as if they are so fragile yous can't fifty-fifty ask where they were built-in for fearfulness of pain their feelings.
